Emergency Care for Western Lausanne

les urgences de l'Ouest lausannois au Centre médical Gare de Renens

Healthcare services in Western Lausanne

The emergency clinic at the Centre médical Gare de Renens is designed to serve the entire population of Western Lausanne, not only the residents of Renens. Located inside Renens train station, our walk-in emergency center sits at a major crossroads between several municipalities, with direct access to multiple train lines, bus routes, and the M1 metro.

Healthcare in Western Lausanne

Western Lausanne is the most densely populated district in the canton of Vaud. In 2024, around 80,000 people lived within an area of just 26 square kilometers. According to a 2023 report from the canton, the district had a medical density of only 3 doctors per 1,000 inhabitants, making it one of the least medically serviced districts in Vaud.

This imbalance is largely due to the concentration of healthcare professionals in areas with large hospitals and clinics. The Lausanne district is the best served, largely because it hosts the CHUV—the canton’s largest hospital.

To help compensate for this shortage, the Centre médical Gare de Renens offers an emergency service dedicated to residents of Western Lausanne.
